While all the field data and statistics can show us what improvements we can expect when using our product, what does that actually mean? How does it help? We can answer some of those questions and bring a bit of insight into the benefits a premium fuel additive such as DXP can have on our fuel, our vehicles, and our environment! Let’s face it, fossil fuels have a limited life. We all really want to see and improvement or a change, but simply there is nothing yet available that meets those needs. In the meantime, what we can do is make the fuel we are using work to the absolute best of its capabilities and in that, minimise the impact it has on our environment, while maximising its potential, and saving us money. And it simply does not need to cost a great deal. With the wildly fluctuating fuel prices we see almost daily, knowing that as little as 3c/L we can stabilise the outcome of the fuel we use. Firstly, it is important to recognise that DXP premium fuel additive works for both petrol and diesel. There are no chemicals, metals, or minerals in our product. We use a combination of organic oils to bring about the benefits that are experienced. Being oil, it is lubricant based, and cannot harm any engine in any way..
Cetane in Diesel is what Octane is for Petrol. They represent a rating assigned to a fuel to rate the quality of its combustion. The higher the number, the better the combustion. DXP contains no cetane or octane. How we improve combustion is by improving the molecular structure of the fuel, so it burns more efficiently, thereby increasing the rated number. In 1ml\1000ml ratio we see Cetane increase of around 5 points, Octane around 2 points at 1ml\2000ml ratio. A higher cetane\octane number results in quicker ignition of the fuel leading to less non-ignited fuels building up inside the combustion chamber, as well as more complete fuel combustion. Better fuel combustion and quick ignition leads to quicker starting for vehicles, as well as an engine that operates more quietly as only misted fuel is ignited and build-up inside the engine is minimised. Moreover, fuel efficiency improves with more complete combustion, and harmful emissions are reduced.
All fuel contains moisture, which if left unchecked can be the single most destructive component to an engine. In many ways perhaps the most important issue. Moisture in fuel leads to a huge range of issues that degrade engine performance, reduce longevity, encourage corrosion and engine wear. Water is the most corrosive substance we know, and modern-day high pressure engines are more susceptible to the problems it causes in many ways. This is really the only visible examples we can give by showing how moisture is absorbed into the fuel. By emulsifying moisture into the fuel, it gets removed from the system during combustion and extraction. By increasing the saturation point (this is the point where moisture separates from the fuel when it can no longer be contained) we keep the moisture that is present atomised within the fuel, neutralising its harmful potentials. Especially important for Common Rail Diesel and modern high pressure fuel system where separated moisture can cause serious damage over time. By removing the moisture, you inhibit the affect it can have such as corrosion, abrasion, etching, spalling, pitting and cavitation. Other affects that require a saturated content of moisture present such as microbial growth, oxidation and chemical reactions caused by soft solids, are also greatly reduced or eliminated.
The job of a lubricant is to minimise friction and therefor damage to components of the engine that are in relative motion to each other. The oils we use have a lubricity 4 times greater than sulphur, with no harmful emissions. This produces reduced wear on engines, allowing for peak performance and engine longevity, leading to further fuel savings and protecting the engine. Replacing the lubricants taken out of fuel is where the journey with DXP began. With the removal of environmentally harmful additives like lead and sulphur, there was a need to replace the deficiency of lubricity in fuel. We have seen engine life improved by to 12% in long haul truck operators coupled with fuel savings ranging from 5% - 20%.
Keeping the injectors clean and free of debris build up or degradation is critical to the performance of your engine. Dirty injectors inhibit fuel efficiency and performance and in worse case scenarios can cause serious damage as your engine struggles to keep up. Remember, we use only organic oils and lubricants in DXP, no harmful chemicals, metals or minerals. DXP dissolves particulates to submicronic particles, passing them through the system and into combustion, where they are burnt away and released. Deposits are minimised and injector life substantially increased, improving engine performance, responsiveness, and fuel efficiency. While nothing can improve damaged injectors, we can keep further damage to a minimum, and protect newer engines for a longer injector life.
All diesel contains microbes that will proliferate in the right conditions. Moisture separation provides an environment for the growth of bacteria and fungi, the fuel is the food. This can lead to a degradation of fuel with poor combustion, detergent issues, rust, acid formation, corrosion, and filter blocking. DXP removes the moisture separation issue as mentioned earlier, breaking down moisture and microbial contamination at the molecular level, and includes an organic biocide that kills all bacterial spores and growth. It will remove existing growth and completely clean the fuel system, and keep it clean through continued use. Extreme heavy contaminations need the fuel filters checked after the initial full tank. The removal of sludge (biological deposits and water) from the bottom of the tank means the environment can no longer sustain further growth
